Last Day to Enter My July Contest!

Thursday, July 31, 2008

Today's the last day to win Kyle Schroeder's (W'00), gift basket of 3 tubes of his new Cremo (shaving) Cream with fogless mirrors!

All you need to do is:
Click here to sign up for the DT Newsletter!

More about the Shaving Cream here + coupons if you want to purchase now ...+/-

The Astonishingly Superior Shave Cream

* Dramatically reduces cuts, nicks, scrapes and razor irritation.
* Gives you the closest, most comfortable. longest lasting shave.
* Leaves your skin astonishingly soft and smooth.

Try It Once to Believe it. Enjoy It For Life. It's Really That Good.

Most shave "creams" and "gels" are actually foam -- which is primarily air. Visualize a sharp blade scarping across your delicate skin with air as the main "lubricant." It tears your skin, creates little cuts and nicks that bleed, and leaves your skin looking and feeling rough.

Cremo has no air: It's an extremely rich cream (even more so than other similar/non-foam luxury shave creams). It contains unique, super-lubricating, highly-slippery molecules that have been compounded with powerful skin conditioners. Together, they make your blade glide smoothly over your skin astonishingly soft and smooth. I think you will find this is better than anything else you have ever used. Try it once to believe it. Enjoy it for life.

If you can't wait, here are some discounts to purchase his shaving cream at drugstore.com:

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Despite racial tension in the early 1970s, Michael Abramson (W'70) shot photos in the Chicago Southside nightclub scene which fueled his career as a successful photographer for numerous national and foreign magazines including Time, Newsweek, BusinessWeek, Forbes and Sports Illustrated.

Michael has shot some prestigious subjects including former presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush, Oprah Winfrey, and Michael Jordan. Other photos subjects included workers in a recycling plant and wild mustangs in South Dakota.

His story has recently been told in the Chicago Tribune. (Read the article below!)

Some Classic Film and TV Actors You Didn't Know Were Penn Alumni!

Monday, July 28, 2008

When I was an undergrad in Mask and Wig, there were a whole bunch of celebrity alumni whose caricatures were painted on the walls of our clubhouse that we always knew about, but you may not have...

Click here to discover some actors you've been watching for years on TV and film that I bet you didn't know were Penn alumni!

  • Alumni such as the Ned Wertimer (C'49), who played Ralph the doorman in the Jeffersons.
  • Chip Zien (C'69), an accomplished Broadway actor who also starred as the title character in Howard the Duck and starred in Into the Woods.
  • Another notable Mask and Wig alum is David Naughton (C'73) whom you would recognize from American Werewolf in London (see image above). While David has been doing lots of different projects since, last week a DVD of his came out called Brutal Massacre, "a mocumentary about a "a beleaguered horror director who sets out to make the movie that will put him back on the A list! Unfortunately for him, a quirky crew and penchant for mishaps don't make anything easier in this hilarious satire of low-budget filmmaking."  Check out the trailer below!

Penn Producer Turning Penn Writer's Book Into a Movie!

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Another story of Penn alumni working together in Hollywood.

Thanks to a popular Penn publication, Adam Lebovitz (W'03) has now optioned Craig Boreth's (C'91, First male drummer in Bloomers pit band) (pictured below) book, "How To Feel Manly In A Minivan".

Craig's book is a survival guide for new dads, helping each guy facing fatherhood to make the transition with his masculinity, sanity and lower back intact. It's not really a parenting guide, but more a guide to fatherly self-preservation, covering such subjects as:
  • How to have sex for procreation
  • How to remain conscious during delivery
  • How to see your wife as a MILF
  • How to Get That #%&%$ Song Out of Your Head

Per Adam (pictured right), his story on how he found Craig's book is very much a "feel good" Penn alumni story:
"I actually found the book by reading about it in the Penn Gazette. The title was so funny that I immediately bought a copy and read it. The book was hysterical! Craig Boreth's writing has such a genuine and fresh voice. Even though the book was written from a guy's perspective, both men and women can appreciate the humor of finding yourself on the verge parenthood and then all of the comedy of being a parent.

I am in the early stages of development on it. I am exploring both paths of setting it up in television and features. Working on a comedy will be a much different experience than my last project I produced which was a crime thriller called Tortured, starring Laurence Fishburne and Cole Hauser. Sony recently bought it and will be releasing it in September."
FYI, Adam owns his own production company called "Five Star Pictures" where he is partnered with his brother Nolan Lebovitz.

Before "husbandry", Craig wrote a book on how wives can turn their husbands into the perfect husband: "How to Iron Your Own Damn Shirt: The Perfect Husband Handbook Featuring Over 50 Foolproof Ways to Win, Woo & Wow Your Wife"
