He Ambitiously Recreates Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog at Penn (VIDEOS)

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Considering it is vlog week here on DT, I thought I would give a nod to a recent production on Penn's campus all about vlogs, ...or to be more precise, one very popular "Sing-Along Blog"...

In my facebook feed I saw that director Ben Grinberg (C'11) was staging a production of the popular viral video hit "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" for Penn's Fall 2009 New Student Orientation show.

Below, check out the "Laundry Day" clip that Ben sent me ...and then see the original clip below that starring Neil Patrick Harris!

I love how Ben has projected the laundrymat as a video in the background during the scene!  (fyi, check out Ben's other entertaining video projects HERE)

When a Freshman Vlogs About His First Week at Penn

Friday, September 5, 2008

upenn

If you ever forgot how you felt your first week of Penn, listen to Kevin Shapiro (C'12) vlog about his first week of going out, losing sleep and just partying.

My favorite part is the promise he makes to himself in minute 1:02 ...because his first class starts at 11am. It's my favorite because (1) we've all made promises like this and (2) if he's going to be partying, I'll tell you he's not waking up early to do this!

What promises did you make like this at Penn? Comment below!

"That's a nice name tag": The freshman get to know one another

Saturday, September 1, 2007

"Oh, which part of Long Island are you from?"

These are the types of questions that will be buzzing around campus this week.

So I found this improv-type video online for the freshman's "NSO" (New Student Orientation)...which led me to think back to my own experiences as a freshman and two tips (for better or worse) which I may be able to impart to the class of 2011 for this week of "integration".

REMEMBERING NAMES

>When I went to school in the mid 90's, apparently I was one of a few who had a hologram of a "P" on my Penn card. I asked others whose name I had forgotten if I could see their Penn card to see if they too had that crazy P hologram on their card. Soon enough I remembered "Stacy''s name.

>When I rushed, I brought my friend Lauren to some of the earlier events and had her introduce herself first to the brothers. Once the brothers then mentioned their name to her, I suddenly remembered "Jon" and "Jason's" names.

Again, these are for better or worse.

Okay, worse.

What were some of your stories for getting to know people during that first freshman week? Click to comment below!
