John Legend
Tune into Good Morning America on Friday morning as John Legend (C'99, Counterparts) performs for GMA's Summer Concert Series live from New York's Central Park.  (If you miss it, check back here for video.)

UPDATE:
Check out videos from his performance below! (they talk about and show clips from the speech John gave at Penn's commencement a few weeks ago)

On a related note, the Penn Club of Los Angeles will be kicking off their Fall '09 events with a John Legend Concert on September 1 at the Greek Theater!

PennClubLA, WhartonSoCal, and SCRAB have secured a large block of seats for their clubs and are in the process of organizing a club reception. Please save the date if you would like to join.  Club tickets will go on sale next week HERE.

Please note that this is not a private concert and there unfortunately won't be a meet and greet with John. ...But perhaps if you hold up Penn signs you'll probably get a shout out from him!

Watch John Legend inspire everyone at this year's (2009) Penn Commencement HERE

Penn Club Los Angeles strolls down Avenue Q

Saturday, September 8, 2007

Today, I went with the Penn Club of Los Angeles to witness puppets dealing with life after college... addressing issues like sex, drinking, and surfing the web for porn.

It was great. It reminded me a bit of Mask and Wig (minus the puppets).

What is the show about?
From the avenueq.com website:
"AVENUE Q is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q; still, the neighbors seem nice. There's Brian the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fianceé Christmas Eve; Nicky the good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod -- a Republican investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate. And would you believe the building's superintendent is Gary Coleman?!? (Yes, that Gary Coleman.) Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life."

There was one number in the show that resonated with me that I know all alumni out there can relate to, entitled "If I Could Go Back to College"...
