Music Mondays: He's Writing Music for Barbie

Monday, March 17, 2008

In addition to my weekly Tuesday Tips, Wednesday Websites , Now and Then Thursday, and Funny Friday series, it's now time to add another series associated with a day of the week: "Music Mondays". This series will showcase the works of many of our musicians.

I recently reconnected with composer/singer-songwriter extraordinaire Gabriel Mann (C'95) and he's certainly keeping the home fires burning...

Check this out...

- Gabe just finished composing the score for ABC's Carpoolers, and, is in the middle of three video game scores (all his video game scores are done with tag-team composing partner Rebecca Kneubuhl - see kneubuhlmann.com).

- He's co-writing and producing two songs for the next Barbie movie from Mattel (yes, Barbie) with Hannah Montana songwriter Jeannie Lurie and Los Angeles songwriting maven Amy Powers.

- He just performed and produced a cover of "All by Myself" with his new band The Rescues for the upcoming Superhero Movie (l, and is just wrapping up production for Irish songstress Naimee Coleman's new album.

- Gabriel's most recent album Tall Buildings is due for Japanese release on Sandfish Records later this year, and title-track "Shadows of Tall Buildings" was just announced as a finalist in this season's John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

Check out Gabe's "Eight Feet Tall" solo from his CD release party this past summer.
